Poetry of Resignation

Apart

Slip softly into the untogether,
sad-heeded duties demanding elsewhere,
making mild mock of the word ‘forever’,
temporary partings, such short-term despair.
One-way arrow that flies without hasting,
bringing faint hope as eons pass by.
Distances lengthened, the Present mistaking
jumbled connections, emotions wrung dry.

Silky Sirens tempting the Otherwise,
slippers for toasting, and roses to prune.
Sliding in numbness to gentle demise,
a life concluded to saccharine tune.

Accept the rending, the breaking of heart.
for absence ensures that we never part.
