Poetry to Understand

Passing

If only I knew Then that which I know Now,
but Then is lost to me now, even knowing
That which I now know.
If only I had now that which I had Then,
but Now was never for knowing,
not Then

Then, nothing moved, Nothing stirred, nor me.
I stood, a statue, rampaging my youth
for the lightest linger of Time,
until one day, holding hands;
the clock and I, holding hands;
We aged.

Now I linger longer, knowing what went before
and knowing that Time to come.
Secure now and secured forever
to the inching hands of Time,
and oh so well aware,
of Nothing.
